After a two year hiatus, I have finally returned to Spring time in Provence.

***: I knew nothing about Provence when I landed in Marseille one hot late-June afternoon. I had come to study French for six weeks in Aix-en-Provence, an excuse really, to leave behind a failed marriage and a lot of unanswered questions about my future. Someone suggested going to France for a few months. Why not? I grabbed on to the idea, worked hard to save enough money for three months abroad, made all the arrangements I needed to make, and went. I didn’t bone up on guide books or travel memoires, in fact, I did very little to prepare myself for the journey. As a result, I arrived with absolutely no expectations in my pocket. Everything was an adventure, a marvel, a revelation and... I fell in love. Not with a tall dark handsome Frenchman (although there were some interesting possibilities along the way) but with the countryside, the colours, the sunshine, the traditions, the culture, the language and the people. This blog is a continuation of that journey; a journey that I hope will never end – discovering Provence.
